Register yourself as a new library user

Anyone who has reached the age of 18 can join the Riksdag Library. You can register yourself by filling in the form below. Please remember to bring a valid photo ID when you visit the Library.

Borrowing regulations

Anyone who has reached the age of 18 and has a personal identity number or coordination number is eligible for both home loans and reading room loans. Others are only eligible for reading room loans.

  1. You are responsible for notifying the Library of any change of personal details, for example if you move or change your email address.
  2. Your login details for the Library are personal and may not be passed on to anyone else.
  3. You are personally responsible for all your loans.
  4. The loan period is 90 days, with an automatic renewal period of a further 90 days, provided there are no reservations. If another Library user does make a reservation, the loan period will be stopped and you will receive a message containing information about the new loan period. In the event that someone in the Riksdag reserves the book, you may need to return it immediately.
  5. If you fail to return your loans after two reminders, you will be barred from borrowing. After the third reminder the material will be regarded as lost, and you will be liable to pay compensation. You will continue to be barred from borrowing until you have returned your loans or paid the invoice.

Some material may only be read at the Library as a reading room loan. This primarily applies to books published before 1900 and journals.

Under the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act (2009:400, Ch.40, Sec.3), no information may be disclosed about an individual’s loans, requests or reservations.
