Premises and services

The Riksdag provides temporary workstations, the possibility to log in to a chosen network and other service for journalists and photographers with Riksdag media accreditation.

The Riksdag provides various forms of service for journalists and photographers with Riksdag media accreditation. The aim is to create good conditions for mass media to monitor and provide information on the work of the Riksdag. The regulations concerning service are contained in the Riksdag Board's regulation on premises, equipment and service to media representatives (RFS 2016:3).

WiFi

Guest log-ins to the Riksdag's wireless network are available for collection in the press foyer on floor 7 of the West Wing of the Riksdag or in the Service Centre in the Bank Hall on floor 3.

The press foyer and the press gallery

The press foyer with temporary workstations, reading armchairs, television and a kitchenette is on floor 7 of the West Wing of the Riksdag. The press foyer is also where the entrance to the press gallery in the Chamber is located, from which the photo locations on the gallery and on balconies, and all the other photo openings can be reached.

The press gallery is located next to the southern section of the public gallery and is reserved for journalists and photographers with Riksdag media accreditation.

There are also special photo locations on the gallery and facilities for audio recording. There are also photo locations on balconies and in special openings. More information about photo locations:

Photography

Workstations for the press, radio and television

There are permanent workstations and studio rooms for the press, radio and television on floors 7 and 8 of the West West Wing of the Riksdag. Mass media companies that have been granted permanent workstations appoint which of their employees with media accreditation will have access to the workstations.

The Riksdag Press Centre

The Chamber Foyer through which the members of the Riksdag pass on their way to and from meetings in the Chamber is located on floor 5 of the West Wing of the Riksdag. This is also where the Riksdag Press Centre is located, which is used for press briefings and on-the-spot interviews. It is also possible to make audio and video recordings here.

The former First and Second Chambers and the Skandia Room
The former First Chamber and former Second Chamber are located on floor 5 of the East Wing of the Riksdag. Among the meetings held here are public committee hearings and seminars.

The Skandia Room is located on floor 3 of the Neptunus complex. Access to the Skandia Room is via the entrance at Mynttorget 1. The Committee on EU Affairs holds its consultations in the Skandia Room.

Facilities for audio recording

Certain premises in the Riksdag also provide a facility for audio recording:

  • The press gallery (West Wing of the Riksdag, floor 7) during meetings of the Chamber.
  • The Press Centre (West Wing of the Riksdag, floor 5) during press conferences.

When requested, it may be possible during some events to provide facilities for individual audio recordings in other premises:

  • The former First Chamber (East Wing of the Riksdag, floor 5)
  • The former Second Chamber (East Wing of the Riksdag, floor 5)
  • The Bank Hall, next to the event stage (West Wing of the Riksdag, floor 2)
  • The Skandia Room (Mynttorget 1, floor 3)
  • The "Mittpoolen" seminar room (East Wing of the Riksdag, floor 2)

Direct transmission of sound and pictures to editorial offices

Editorial offices may, for a fee, subscribe to a service allowing direct transmission of sound and pictures for immediate download or live broadcasting. The subscription is signed for a long period of time, not for individual occasions.

Ports for connecting to the direct transmission service are available at the following places:

  • The Bank Hall, at the marble table (West Wing of the Riksdag, floor 2)
  • The Press Centre (West Wing of the Riksdag, floor 5)
  • The former First Chamber (East Wing of the Riksdag, floor 5)
  • The former Second Chamber (East Wing of the Riksdag, floor 5)
  • The Skandia Room (Mynttorget 1, floor 3)
  • Riksplan (Norrbro 1)

Webcast

The Riksdag provides life broadcasts via the webcast service of all debates and decisions in the Chamber, the public hearings of the Riksdag committees and certain other events in the Chamber, the former First Chamber, the former Second Chamber, the Skandia Room and the Press Centre. Party-political events are not broadcast.
