Uppdated 4 December 2019 klockan 16.40

The Government proposes that Sweden should continue to participate in the existing UN mission in Mali. According to the proposal, Sweden will participate with an armed force consisting of a maxim of 470 persons until 31 December 2020. The Swedish contribution in 2020 will consist of a light infantry company. The proposal will apply on condition that the mandate for the force is extended by the UN Security Council. In 2014, the Government and the Riksdag took a decision that Sweden should participate in the peace mission in Mali, after having received a request from the UN. Since then, Sweden's participation has been extended annually.

The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal.
