A temporary law that makes it possible to implement more accurate measures is required in order to contain the spread of COVID-19. This is the opinion of the Riksdag, which urges the Government by way of an announcement to promptly get back to the Riksdag with a proposal for a temporary law.
This should regulate the forms for how people can gather during an epidemic or a pandemic, for shutdowns of activities and for compensation to the affected activities. According to the Riksdag, the new act should come into force no later than the first quarter of 2021.
The proposal on an announcement is based on a committee initiative. A committee initiative is a proposal that has been introduced in a committee and is not based on a proposal from the Government or a private member's motion.
