Sweden's participation in the ongoing UN mission in Mali is to be extended until 31 December 2021.
The Swedish armed force will normally consist of approximately 220 people, but if the situation demands, it will also be possible to reinforce it to a maximum of 470 people. Sweden's participation will apply on condition that the mandate for the force is extended by the UN Security Council. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal.
The objective of the Swedish mission is to contribute to improving security and long-term stability in Mali.
