The Riksdag voted in favour of amendments to the central government budget for 2020 in response to the coronavirus outbreak. As a result of the amendments, it will be possible, for a limited period, to defer the payment of certain taxes and charges. The aim of the amendments is to rapidly curb temporary liquidity problems for companies as a consequence of the coronavirus outbreak.
The Riksdag also approved an amended estimate of central government revenue for 2020. The proposal regarding deferral of payment of certain taxes and charges means that central government revenue is estimated to decrease by SEK 27 billion in 2020. A corresponding increase in revenue is instead estimated for 2021.
The amendments will come into force on 30 March 2020.
