On 29 September, Park Byeong-seug, the Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea, visited the Riksdag during his official visit to Sweden.
At the invitation of the Speaker Andreas Norlén, the Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea Park Byeong-seug visited Sweden for discussions including bilateral and international parliamentary questions and exchange in research, innovation and culture. The South Korean Speaker Park Byeong-seug was received at the Riksdag by the Speaker Andreas Norlén, and the Second Deputy Speaker Lotta Johnsson Fornarve hosted a lunch meeting.
The South Korean Speaker and his delegation also met the Third Deputy Speaker Kerstin Lundgren, as well as members of the Riksdag from the Committee on Foreign Affairs, the Committee on Defence, the Committee on Education and the Committee on Cultural Affairs. At a ceremony, in which the Speaker of the Riksdag Andreas Norlén participated, the Speaker Park Byeong-seug laid a wreath at the memorial for Swedish medical staff active in the Korean war.
In addition to the programme at the Riksdag, there was also an audience with King Carl XVI Gustaf and meetings with the Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (Social Democratic Party) and the Minister for Foreign Trade Anna Hallberg (Social Democratic Party), as well as a visit to the K-Startup Centre.
The programme also included a visit to Uppsala in the company of the First Deputy Speaker Åsa Lindestam hosted by the County Governor Göran Enander, where the agenda included Uppsala University, the Uppsala Innovation Centre and Science Life Lab. As a result of the current pandemic, the programme was limited as were the number of people participating in each of the items in the programme.
