The Riksdag has voted in favour of the Government's proposal to introduce a new law on operational military support between Sweden and Finland.
The purpose is to strengthen the two countries' national defence capacities and their capability to conduct joint military operations.
The decision means, among other things, that the Government will have the right to take certain decisions to give or receive military support within the framework of the cooperation. Other legislative amendments will also give Finnish military forces greater capability to provide military support to Sweden.
The legislative amendments will come into force on 15 October 2020.
