It should be possible to pay out sick pay as a preventive measure to risk groups until phase 3 of the vaccination plan against COVID-19 has been completed. This is the opinion of the Riksdag, which therefore called on the Government to act by way of an announcement.
The current regulations on sickness allowances apply until 30 April, and as it is stated in the announcement, there should be no interruption in disbursements to those who are entitled to compensation in the case of an extension. The right to compensation should also not be limited by provisions concerning a maximum number of benefit days.
The announcement is based on a committee initiative from the Committee on Social Insurance. This means that it is the Committee that has initiated the proposal. It does not originate from a government bill or a motion from a member of the Riksdag.
