Today, 25 November, the Speaker Andreas Norlén has once again proposed that the Riksdag appoint as Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson (Social Democratic Party), who intends to form a government consisting of representatives of the Social Democratic Party.
On Thursday 25 November, the Speaker Andreas Norlén consulted representatives of the parties in the Riksdag by telephone, conferred with the Deputy Speakers and informed the King. Following this, the Speaker once again proposed that the Riksdag appoints Magdalena Andersson as Prime Minister. The proposal was tabled the same day. The second tabling will take place on Friday 26 November. The vote on the proposal is planned at 1 p.m. on Monday 29 November. This is a preliminary plan and the timetable may be adjusted if necessary.

On 10 November, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (Social Democratic Party) formally requested to resign as Prime Minister. On 24 November, the Riksdag approved the Speaker's proposal to appoint Magdalena Andersson (Social Democratic Party) as Prime Minister. Magdalena Andersson requested to be discharged from office the same day, and her request was granted by the Speaker.
The Speaker has the assignment of preparing a proposal for a new Prime Minister for the Riksdag to take a stand on. The assignment includes interview rounds with representatives of all the parties in the Riksdag and consultations with the Deputy Speakers. The Speaker is also keeping King Carl XVI Gustaf informed of the situation regarding this assignment. Until a new government has taken office in connection with a Council of State, Stefan Löfven (Social Democratic Party) is Prime Minister in a caretaker government consisting of representatives of the Social Democratic Party and the Green Party.
