Return to ordinary work procedures for the Riksdag

The Speaker and the party group leaders agreed on 11 February that the special procedures for the work of the Riksdag that were introduced in response to the COVID-19 pandemic are to cease.

"It is encouraging that developments are moving in the right direction, despite everything. The group leaders and I have now agreed that the Rikdsag will resume its ordinary work procedures", says the Speaker Andreas Norlén.

The current agreement involving special work procedures applies until 13 February, and will not be extended after this. The group leaders' special agreement on temporary adjustments to the pairing system will also cease to apply after 13 February. This agreement allows the presence of 249 members of the Riksdag during votes. It is furthermore proposed that the Riksdag decides that, from 21 February, the committees will no longer have the opportunity to allow members to attend committee meetings remotely.

During the pandemic, the Riksdag has taken various measures to limit the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the work of the Riksdag. These have involved both decisions concerning the Riksdag's work procedures based on an agreement between the party group leaders and the Speaker, and decisions in the Riksdag Administration concerning the Administration's activities and work procedures.
