Friday 8 January 2021 The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal to introduce a temporary law and certain legislative amendments to enable more measures to be taken to counteract congestion and thus prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Friday 8 January 2021 A presidential election will be held in Kyrgyzstan on 10 January. Four Swedish MPs are included in an international delegation to observe the election.

Tuesday 29 December 2020 The Riksdag has been summoned to convene in the first week of January in order to consider a provisional act to prevent the spread of COVID-19 – the “pandemic act”.

Wednesday 16 December 2020 Beslut The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal on an amendment to the Act on Support in the Event of Short-time Work which will mean that employers who are receiving support for providing short-time work and who are arranging competency measures will have the opportunity to receive compensation for such measures.

Wednesday 16 December 2020 Beslut The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal on amendments to the Unemployment Insurance Act. One of the effects of this will be that temporary legislative amendments on account of COVID-19 are to be extended until 1 January 2023.

Wednesday 16 December 2020 The Riksdag has decided on an amendment to the Student Aid Act which will mean that in the event of extraordinary events in peace time the Government can decide that a higher amount than normal may be provided in the form of an extra loan to those who have worked previously.

Wednesday 9 December 2020 The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal that the Act on the register of national vaccination programmes should also include vaccinations against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). According to the proposal, the care provider responsible for the COVID-19 vaccination shall also provide information about the dose number of the vaccination to the register.

Thursday 3 December 2020 Following consultations with the party group leaders, the Speaker has decided that a debate between on EU policy shall be held at the Riksdag on 20 January. The planned debate between party leaders on EU policy that was due to take place on 18 November was cancelled on account of the increasing spread of COVID-19 in Sweden.

Wednesday 2 December 2020 The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal to extend the provisional law that makes it possible for companies and organisations to hold their annual general meetings without physical participation.

Wednesday 25 November 2020 The Riksdag voted in favour of amendments to the central government budget. The amendments will mean that central government expenditure will increase by SEK 31 billion this year.

Thursday 19 November 2020 The Speaker Andreas Norlén received Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the leader of the opposition in Belarus, for meetings at the Riksdag on 18 November. The Speaker hosted a lunch and Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya also met members of the Riksdag from various political parties.

Monday 26 October 2020 On 22 October, the Speaker Andreas Norlén hosted a seminar commemorating the 75th anniversary of the UN. The seminar consisted of a dialogue between the Minister for Foreign Affairs, UN experts, members of the Riksdag and diplomats, and dealt with the challenges connected with the UN’s mission.

Wednesday 21 October 2020 The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal for a temporary change in investment rules for four of the Swedish National Swedish Pension Funds, also known as AP Funds, as a result of COVID-19.

Wednesday 30 September 2020 On 29 September, Park Byeong-seug, the Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea, visited the Riksdag during his official visit to Sweden.

Wednesday 23 September 2020 In order to mitigate the social effects of the novel coronavirus, the Government has proposed further measures within the framework of a tenth additional amending budget for 2020. Among other things, increased funding is proposed in order to enable a new form of financial support to sole traders along with an extension of the reorientation support to companies, increased financial support to sport and cultural activities and an extension of certain temporary measures in the field of sickness insurance. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposals.
