Tuesday 16 June 2020 As a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and the serious economic situation, Swedish companies in need of capital risk being undervalued. This could lead to increased international interest in direct investments in Swedish companies that are worth protecting. The Riksdag therefore urged the Government by way of an announcement, to promptly present a proposal for measures to make the examination of such investments possible.

Thursday 11 June 2020 The Riksdag has considered the annual government communication on work in the European Union (EU). The communication covers all of the EU's activities during 2019. The Riksdag also called on the Government by way of an announcement to seek, together with other EU member states, to bring about EU legislation imposing sanctions for human rights.

Thursday 11 June 2020 The Riksdag or the Speaker may decide to grant permission for remote participation in committee meetings if there are exceptional grounds. If the Riksdag or the Speaker have taken such a decision, a committee may allow a member or deputy member to participate remotely in a meeting.

Wednesday 3 June 2020 In order to mitigate the negative economic effects of the new coronavirus and create opportunities for education and continuing professional development, the Government has presented several proposals for further measures. Among other things, more money from the central government budget for 2020 will be earmarked for compensation for high costs for sick pay, sickness benefits, a contribution to keep public transport running and a contribution for public health and medical care. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposals.

Wednesday 3 June 2020 A municipality should have the right to refuse home care services to people who are on a short stay in the municipality. This is the opinion of the Riksdag which, by way of an announcement, calls on the Government to promptly prepare a legislative proposal to this effect. The purpose is to reduce the burden on the municipalities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wednesday 27 May 2020 The Government has proposed further measures to cushion the impact of the negative effects of the spread of the new coronavirus on society. The proposals include adaptations of the support initiatives that have already been introduced, as well as more effective checks to combat fraudulent use of the initiatives.

Thursday 14 May 2020 The current spread of the new coronavirus has resulted in both small and large companies increasingly having liquidity problems. The Riksdag has therefore called on the Government by way of an announcement to carry out a review with a temporary focus on the time limits in the Swedish Companies Act that apply for personal payment liability in the event of lack of capital.

Thursday 14 May 2020 The Riksdag has voted in favour of the Government's proposal to postpone the introduction of the national pharmaceuticals list and the reform of general practice for doctors. The reason is the spread of the new coronavirus that causes Covid-19.

The Government's proposal means that transitional provisions pertaining to such things as the Act concerning Medical Technology Products will be amended so that older provisions will continue to apply until 25 May 2021.

Wednesday 13 May 2020 A person selling a private house or flat at a profit and buying a new house of flat can be granted deferment of taxation on capital gains. The Riksdag has now decided that the ceiling for the maximum amount of such a deferment is to be raised.

Wednesday 13 May 2020 Temporary changes to press subsidies have been proposed to reduce economic consequences for the media in connection with the outbreak of the coronavirus. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal.

Wednesday 29 April 2020 The spread of the new coronavirus has led to reduced sales of winter fuel, and this has led to a shortage of space in fuel depots. The Government would like to postpone the transition to summer fuel so that the fuel suppliers have more time to replace their stocks of winter fuel with summer fuel. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal.

Wednesday 22 April 2020 The Government will be able to allow exceptions to the requirements of the Planning and Building Act (PBL) in cases where there is a risk of the spread of a disease constituting a danger to society, such as COVID-19. The purpose of the exception is for example to get field hospitals and testing tents in place if regular hospital premises are not sufficient. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal.

Thursday 16 April 2020 The Government should look into which groups of people of working age run the risk of becoming particularly ill due to COVID-19 and how they can receive compensation if they are unable to remain at home from work. This is the opinion of the Riksdag which has called on the Government to act by way of an announcement.

Thursday 16 April 2020 The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal for amendments to the Communicable Diseases Act in order to enable the Government to take special measures in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. On the basis of the amended legislation, the Government will, for example, be entitled to issue special provisions making it possible to temporarily close shopping centres and restaurants.

Wednesday 8 April 2020 The Riksdag voted mainly in favour of the Government’s proposals for amendments to the central government budget for 2020 in response to the coronavirus. The amendments will mean for example certain relaxations in unemployment insurance and that the income ceiling for obtaining study support will be removed.

Friday 3 April 2020 The Government has proposed several measures in the field of taxation in order to alleviate the consequences for companies in connection with the coronavirus outbreak. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposals. The Riksdag also approved an amended revenue estimate for 2020.

Friday 3 April 2020 In order to enable shareholders and members to participate and influence, to as great an extent as possible without increasing the risk of spreading the coronavirus, the Government has proposed the introduction of provisional rules for annual general meetings for companies and organisations. The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal.

Thursday 2 April 2020 As a result of the coronavirus, the Riksdag has voted mainly in favour of the Government's proposal on amendments to the central government budget for 2020. Among the effects of the amendments are that the state will temporally assume responsibility for three quarters of staff who have been laid off in the short term, that the state will assume responsibility for sick pay for two months and that the deduction for qualifying days will be temporarily abolished. Most of the amendments will come into force on 7 April 2020.
