Wednesday 13 March 2019 The Riksdag has voted in favour of the Government’s proposal that companies registered in the UK which are currently permitted to conduct securities operations in Sweden without authorisation from the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority (FI) shall be permitted to continue with this for a certain period after the UK has left the EU.

Monday 11 February 2019 The foreign policy debate was held in the Riksdag on Wednesday 13 February at 9 a.m. The Minister for Foreign Affairs Margot Wallström (Social Democratic Party) introduced the debate with a presentation of the Government's Statement of Foreign Policy. The parties represented in the Riksdag then debated their view of foreign policy. The foreign policy debate takes place once a year and is divided into two parts. In the first part, one representative from each party participates. In the second half of the debate, the members who would like to speak are given the opportunity to take the floor. The first part of the debate was interpreted into English and can be viewed via the Riksdag webcast service.

Wednesday 30 January 2019 The first party leader debate of the year took place on Wednesday 30 January at 9 a.m. During the debate, representatives from the parties in the Riksdag had the opportunity to argue in favour of the policies they wish to pursue. The debate was interpreted into sign language and English. It can be viewed on demand via the Riksdag webcast service.

Monday 21 January 2019 Today, on 21 January, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (Social Democratic Party) has presented the Statement of Government Policy to the Riksdag. The Statement sets out the objectives of the Government's policies for the coming year. The presentation of the Statement can be viewed on demand via the Riksdag webcast service.

Wednesday 2 January 2019 On 4 January and 28 December, the Speaker Andreas Norlén received progress reports from Stefan Löfven (Social Democratic Party) and Ulf Kristersson (Moderate Party). On 10 January the Speaker is to receive new informal reports from Stefan Löfven and Ulf Kristersson.

Friday 21 December 2018 At a press meeting on Wednesday 19 December the Speaker Andreas Norlén provides information on how he will proceed in connection with the process of forming a government. He has also announced a timetable for this.

Friday 14 December 2018 The Speaker's second proposal for a new prime minister was put to the vote in the Chamber on 14 December. The Speaker proposed Stefan Löfven (Social Democratic Party). The Riksdag voted against the proposal, as more than half of the members of the Riksdag voted against it.

Wednesday 14 November 2018 The Speaker's proposal for a new prime minister was put to the vote in the Chamber on 14 November. The Speaker's proposal was Ulf Kristersson (Moderate Party). The Riksdag voted against the Speaker's proposal, as more than half of the members of the Riksdag; voted against him.

Tuesday 25 September 2018 Today, on 25 September, a vote was held on the Prime Minister in order to determine the support for Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (Social Democratic Party) in the newly elected Riksdag. The results of the vote show that the Prime Minister does not have the confidence of the new Riksdag, as more than half of the members of the Riksdag voted against him.

Tuesday 25 September 2018 The new group leaders of all the parties represented in the Riksdag were presented at the first meeting of the Chamber of the new Riksdag. The Riksdag also appointed a Nominations Committee for the parliamentary committees and other Riksdag bodies.

Tuesday 25 September 2018 The Riksdag has elected Ingvar Mattson as its new Secretary-General. Ingvar Mattson has previously been an Auditor-General and Director General of the Swedish Agency for Public Management.

Monday 24 September 2018 The Riksdag has elected Andreas Norlén as the new Speaker. Åsa Lindestam (SocDem) was elected First Deputy Speaker. Lotta Johnsson Fornarve (Lft) was elected Second Deputy Speaker and Kerstin Lundgren (Cen) was elected Third Deputy Speaker.
