Debate between party leaders on EU policy at the Riksdag on 20 January

Debatt Following consultations with the party group leaders, the Speaker has decided that a debate between party leaders on EU policy shall be held at the Riksdag on 20 January. The planned debate between party leaders on EU policy that was due to take place on 18 November was cancelled on account of the increasing spread of COVID-19 in Sweden.

Reduced tax on incomes and extended period of expert tax

Beslut The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal to extend the period for "expert tax" from three to five years. Expert tax is a form of tax relief applying to experts, researchers and other key persons working on a temporary basis in Sweden.

Continued possibility for companies and organisations to hold annual general meetings remotely in 2021

Beslut The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal to extend the provisional law that makes it possible for companies and organisations to hold their annual general meetings without physical participation.

The Committee on the Constitution has completed its scrutiny of the Government

Granskning The Committee on the Constitution has completed its annual scrutiny of the Government. In total, the Committee on the Constitution has examined 30 reports from members of the Riksdag as well as a number of other questions that the Committee has taken up on its own initiative. The Committee has identified deficiencies in 12 of the examined matters.

Yes to the expenditure limits and revenues in the Budget Bill

Beslut The Riksdag has voted in favour of the expenditure limits and revenue estimates in the Government's Budget Bill for 2021. The Riksdag has also voted mainly in favour of the legislative proposals concerning changes to tax regulations in the Budget Bill and has voted in favour of the central government expenditure ceiling.

SEK 31 billion more to municipalities, regions and other areas this year

Beslut The Riksdag voted in favour of amendments to the central government budget. The amendments will mean that central government expenditure will increase by SEK 31 billion this year.

The Speaker Andreas Norlén received Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, the leader of the opposition in Belarus, for meetings at the Riksdag on 18 November. The Speaker hosted a lunch and Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya also met members of the Riksdag from various political parties.

Beslut Fines may be converted into imprisonment if it has not been possible to collect them on account of defiance on the part of the recipient of the fine. The Riksdag has voted in favour of the Government's proposal.

Following his consultation with the party group leaders, the Speaker has decided to cancel the debate between party leaders on EU policy.

Debate between party leaders on EU policy

A debate between party leaders on EU policy will take place at the Riksdag on Wednesday 18 November. The debate will be broadcast via the Riksdag webcast service and will be based on the Statement of Government EU Policy, which sets out the Government's priorities for its forthcoming work with EU matters.

Additional amending budget: Extended period of compensation for people belonging to high-risk groups

The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal on a further additional amending budget in order to mitigate the consequences of the spread of the coronavirus.

Seminar on the 75th anniversary of the UN

On 22 October, the Speaker Andreas Norlén hosted a seminar commemorating the 75th anniversary of the UN. The seminar consisted of a dialogue between the Minister for Foreign Affairs, UN experts, members of the Riksdag and diplomats, and dealt with the challenges connected with the UN’s mission.

Temporary change in investment rules for Swedish National Pension Funds (AP Funds) as a result of COVID-19

The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal for a temporary change in investment rules for four of the Swedish National Swedish Pension Funds, also known as AP Funds, as a result of COVID-19.

Reduced tax for people in rural areas

The Riksdag voted in favour of the Government's proposal to reduce tax for people living in sparsely populated municipalities mainly in Norrland and the north west of Svealand.

The Riksbank should be able to finance an international innovation centre

The Riksdag voted in favour of the Riksbank's proposal for legislative amendments enabling the Riksbank, after approval from the Riksdag, to finance the activities of an international organisation. The background is that the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) wishes to establish an innovation centre - a hub - in Sweden in cooperation with the Riksbank and the central banks in Denmark, Iceland and Norway.
