Visit the Riksdag on Stockholm Culture Night

The Riksdag will participate in Stockholm Culture Night on Saturday 20 April between 18.00 and 24.00. Take the opportunity to experience the parliament buildings from the inside. You can learn more about the work of the Riksdag by taking part in a guided tour, visiting the public gallery of the Chamber and our democracy hub, and attending various seminars and activities in the Riksdag Library. Welcome!
On Culture Night, visitors will have the opportunity to visit both the East and the West Wings of the Riksdag. You can visit the Chamber and watch a video of the Speaker talking about the Chamber and work in the Chamber. Representatives of the Riksdag will also be present to answer questions. There will be guided tours in Swedish and in English in the East Wing of the Riksdag, ending at our temporary democracy hub in the large room for special events known as Sammanbindningsbanan. There will be various activities there on the theme of democracy, and experts on the subject who you can talk to.
Activities in the Riksdag Library
In the Riksdag Library, you can listen to talks about work in and outside the Riksdag. How do things work behind the scenes? What do members of the Committee on the Constitution think about the Instrument of Government? What are the objectives of cultural policy according to the members of the Committee on Cultural Affairs?
None of the activities need to be booked in advance.

Experience the Chamber
Visit the Public Gallery of the Chamber! Every ten minutes, a video will be shown in which the Speaker talks about the work of the Chamber and the Riksdag.
Guided tour and democracy hub
Every ten minutes, a guided tour lasting approximately 30 minutes will start from the East Wing of the Riksdag, ending with a visit to our democracy hub. Every third tour will be in English.

Ask whatever you like about cultural policy!
Put questions to the members of the Committee on Cultural Affairs. The Moderator is journalist Lisa Bergström.

Instruments of Government from Oxenstierna to Palme
Historian Joakim Scherp in conversation with Secretary-General of the Riksdag Ingvar Mattson.
Activities throughout the evening
In addition to the fixed programme items in the Riksdag Library, there will be several activities that you can participate in at any time during the evening. For example, you can look at the Library’s collection of political cartoons and caricatures, search for relatives in the registers and try writing with a real quill pen.
