Ingvar Mattson was elected as the new Secretary-General of the Riksdag. Ingvar Mattson has been an Auditor-General since 2017 and before that he was Director General of the Swedish Agency for Public Management. He has also been Head of Secretariat of the Committee on Finance at the Riksdag for many years, and had top positions in the Secretariat of the Committee on the Constitution. He has a background in the academic sector with a doctorate in political science, and has taught and conducted research at Lund University and in Linköping. Ingvar Mattson has also worked with several government inquiries and committees, for example, as a member of the Working Committee on Constitutional Reform's expert group on financial power and as Secretary of the Parliamentary Review Commission. He also has international experience. Background A group consisting of the Speaker and group leaders of all the parties represented in the Riksdag has prepared the proposal prior to the Riksdag's election of the Secretary-General. After preparation by the new Speaker of the Riksdag and party group leaders, the Riksdag elected Ingvar Mattson as Secretary-General of the Riksdag.
